This article sums it up. After going through several long interviews myself and then not being offered a job, I understand where this man is coming from. It's not always the 'skill' gap. It is the 'job' gap and employers waiting for perfection. Imperfection is what makes each individual unique. Stop waiting for perfect and just hire someone already!
